701 Tanzania, Green Beans

Om kaffen og dens smag

This delicious coffee bean is from the area of Karatu, in northeastern Tanzania.

The producer, Glenmalure, writes about the bean:

"This naturally processed coffee requires extremely careful selection during harvest. It is just reaching the vinous stage, and if we don't hit the perfect time, the coffee is lost."
However, it's not just us who hunt this coffee – our neighbors, the baboons, are just as keen to get their hands on the beans, just when the sweetness is at its peak."

Green beans mean they are NOT roasted, and you have to do this yourself before you can make coffee from them!

About the cultivation and processing - Natural processing

This naturally processed coffee requires extremely careful selection during harvest. It is just reaching the vinous stage, and if we don't get the timing right, the coffee is lost.
However, it's not just us who hunt this coffee – our neighbors, the baboons, are just as keen to get their hands on the beans, just when the sweetness is at its peak.

Glenmalure Farm

Glenmalure is a small specialty coffee farm located near Ngila Estate Ltd in northern Tanzania, on the slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater. For over 100 years, the farm has been growing coffee at altitudes between 1600 and 1650 meters above sea level. We grow both classic varieties such as Kent, Bourbons and SL28 as well as newer varieties such as Batian, Gesha and Pacamara. The coffee grows in the shade of local trees, and we preserve approximately 80 hectares of native rainforest next to the plantation, which extends up to 1800 meters. The forest is connected to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti Plains. Our pesticide program has been based on natural methods for over five years, where we use natural insecticides such as neem extract. We use both compost and mineral fertilizers. Our coffee is traditionally fully washed with a water-saving Colombian eco-pulper, which uses only 1 liter of water to pulp 1 ton of coffee berries. We also produce honey-processed coffee, natural coffee and coffee with carbonic maceration.

About our choice of coffee beans

Coffee is at the heart of everything we do at EverBean. It is the driving force behind our commitment to equipment, service and guidance in coffee brewing. We value the quality of the coffee's raw materials, as that is what ends up in your cup. At EverBean, our primary focus is to ensure quality in every cup. We import carefully selected coffee beans from the world's best sources to ensure the ultimate taste experience."

The continents

No matter which coffee farm we get the beans from, you can always find information about the origin, the farm they are grown on, the process the beans have gone through and the history behind the producer. For us, it would be anything but the truth if we took all the credit for the beautiful taste experiences in the cups.

Our coffee selection covers most of the world and we never take home a coffee we don't like just to make money. We stand behind our work and taste.

Sometimes we take home very exclusive beans in smaller portions than the "normal" roasts we have. We do this to be able to offer you something completely unique and expand our knowledge at the same time.

YOUR choice, YOUR taste

Whether it's on a trip abroad, a conversation with a random person, or through our regular partners around the world, we always take the best green beans home and roast them at our own roastery.

Wherever the beans come from, we give them the utmost respect and care, as we know how much they have been through to get to your cup. You can always ask about our coffee, its origin and the process. Or you can read much more about the journey of a coffee bean on our blog.
